NEA Big Read - Activity Schedule

Due to the present environment of COVID, we believe virtual protocols should still be followed. We propose the following tentative schedule:
• MARCH 3, 2022 - VIRTUAL DISCUSSION #1 – The American Sunrise, a Book discussion with an emphasis on comparing the Native American experience west and east of the Mississippi. (Moderator – Madeline “Mandy” Miller Jackson)
• MARCH 17, 2022 - VIRTUAL DISCUSSION #2 – The American Sunrise, a Book discussion with an emphasis on comparing the poet’s Joy Harjo and the late Olivia Ward BushBanks, a Montaukett. (Moderator – Madeline “Mandy” Miller Jackson)
• MARCH 31, 2022 - ONSITE (HYBRID) DISCUSSION #3 – The viewing of the documentary Conscience Point, and discussion comparing it to the book, The American Sunrise with panelist from the Montauketts, Shinnecock, and Unkechaug Nations. (Moderator – Madeline “Mandy” Miller Jackson) This event will take place in the BayshoreBrightwater Public Library’s auditorium.
